What Does Ethics in Leadership Mean to You? An Interview with Carole Saab, CEO

14 min read

Carole Saab, CEO at Federation of Canadian Municipalities, joins Michael Williams, Managing Partner in Ottawa, to discuss the necessary attributes and actions of ethical leaders.

Carole offers a considered perspective on the fundamental principles underpinning ethics, starting with empathy, and encompassing honesty and integrity.

Ethical leadership, I think, is grounded in respect and equity as well; treating everyone with fairness, ensuring equal opportunities for all, valuing diverse perspectives and contributions – and it comes with a commitment to all stakeholders.

Carole expresses her belief that comparative to ethical leadership, leaders should create and prioritise a psychologically safe environment and culture where individuals feel comfortable expressing ideas and concerns, one that fosters innovation and trust.
