Ordnance Survey's (OS) historic brand is trusted, valued and respected across numerous sectors across the UK and internationally, the company has pioneered cutting edge technology, leading the way with world-leading geospatial know-how. 

Ordnance Survey’s requirement was to find a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the company in its next phase of international growth, developing the technology and solutions to propel OS on the global stage.

Our Approach

OS is a unique organisation with a rich history. Funded by the UK Governments Investments (UKGI), the company is on a journey of technology revolution, serving both the public and private sectors.

As such, it was important for us to hire someone who understood and was culturally aligned to the unique position of OS interfacing into government, yet with the commercial nous and go-to-market transformation credentials to drive high impact.

The Outcome

• An exceptional new hire with a passion for OS, Nick Bolton, formerly the CEO of software group Oxford Metrics for 18 years, commenced his post in October 2023.
• With extensive experience in driving commercial and product innovation, growing Oxford Metrics’ customer base to cover 70 countries, Nick has a strong background in developing new and existing international markets.
• At Ordnance Survey, Nick has brought his transformational vision to lead on the organisational strategy, and position OS as world leaders in geospatial services; creating location insight for positive impact.
